Position Overview

The intern will lead the design and development of low-tech assistive, adaptive and cognitive devices using 3D printing technology. This role combines technical expertise with social impact, requiring both creative design skills and attention to detail in documentation and testing.

Key Deliverables

●            Set up and maintain 3D printing facility

●            Design minimum 10 assistive, adaptive,cognitive devices for people with intellectual disabilities

●            Execute complete product development cycle from initial design to final testing

●            Create comprehensive documentation for 3D printing facility operations

●            Develop Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines

●            Prepare detailed test reports and documentation

●            Create a quick reference guide for 3D printing best practices

 Technical Responsibilities

●            Operate and maintain 3D printing equipment

●            Create detailed 3D models using industry-standard software

●            Conduct iterative design improvements based on testing feedback

●            Perform quality control checks on printed components

●            Document technical specifications and assembly instructions

●            Optimize designs for manufacturability

●            Conduct performance testing and validation

Documentation Responsibilities

●            Prepare comprehensive test reports

●            Document facility setup and maintenance procedures

●            Create standard operating procedures for 3D printing operations

●            Develop user manuals for designed devices

●            Compile best practices guide for future reference

●            Prepare technical documentation for knowledge transfer

 Required Qualifications

●            Currently pursuing or recently completed degree in:

○            Mechanical Engineering

○            Industrial Design

○            Product Design

○            Or related technical field

●            Proficiency in 3D modeling software

●            Basic understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes

●            Strong technical documentation skills

●            Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

●            Excellent attention to detail

●            Interest in assistive technology and social impact
