Job Summary:

The Academic Counsellor for the Internship Program plays a key role in guiding and supporting company interns in their professional development and career growth. This position focuses on advising interns on their performance, skill enhancement, and goal setting, with a key responsibility of conducting engaging webinars and workshops to promote learning and development, while ensuring a positive and productive internship experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducting Webinars and Workshops:

 

    • Lead and organize regular webinars and interactive workshops to enhance interns' professional skills, including topics such as time management, communication, industry-specific knowledge, and career development.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and department leads to create valuable content that aligns with both intern needs and organizational goals.
    • Use webinars as a platform to educate interns on company culture, industry trends, and career opportunities, creating an engaging and informative learning environment.

 

  1. Intern Guidance and Support:

 

    • Advise interns on setting and achieving career and professional development goals throughout the internship program.
    • Provide personalized support in understanding job responsibilities, navigating the corporate environment, and fostering a growth mindset.
    • Offer guidance to interns facing challenges, ensuring they feel empowered to succeed.

 

  1. Performance Monitoring and Feedback:

 

    • Regularly assess intern progress, providing constructive feedback on performance, skills development, and areas for improvement.
    • Conduct performance reviews and one-on-one meetings to discuss growth, set new objectives, and provide mentorship for further development.

 

  1. Skill Development and Career Counseling:

 

    • Help interns identify key areas for skill development and provide tailored resources or recommendations to support their growth.
    • Offer career counseling, including resume building, interview preparation, and industry insights, helping interns plan for their future roles.

 

 

  1. Orientation and Onboarding:

 

    • Assist in creating and delivering orientation sessions for new interns, ensuring they understand the company culture, policies, and expectations.
    • Provide the necessary support for interns to integrate into the company and set them up for success from day one.

  1. Problem Resolution and Conflict Management:

 

    • Address any concerns or issues raised by interns regarding their role or development within the company.
    • Act as a mediator between interns and other staff members, resolving conflicts and ensuring a supportive, professional work environment.

 

  1. Record Keeping and Documentation:

 

    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of each intern’s performance, feedback, and progress.
    • Track engagement in webinars and other developmental activities, ensuring continuous improvement of the internship program.

 

  1. Collaboration with Managers and HR:

 

    • Work closely with department managers, HR, and internship coordinators to align intern development goals with organizational objectives.
    • Provide regular updates to leadership on intern progress and the effectiveness of webinars and other training initiatives.

 

  1. Continuous Improvement of Internship Program:

 

    • Collect feedback from interns regarding their experience and use this data to improve the internship program.
    • Stay informed on trends and best practices in internship management and professional development, integrating this knowledge into the program to enhance intern success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, IT Field, Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree must).
  • Experience in counselling, mentoring, or managing interns or early-career professionals. (Preferred).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Familiarity with computer languages (Preferred).
