Course Description
There is a drastic increase in the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) across globe. This indicates that an immediate attention is required in the assessment and management of individuals with ASD. The speech language pathologist plays a major role in the assessment and management of ASD. This highlights the importance of adequate academic and clinical training for Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) to work with children affected by ASDs. Hence, it is proposed to develop a specialized program to prepare SLPs to work successfully and confidently with this specialized population. This program is designed to generate manpower and expertise that will cater to the needs of individuals with ASDs at the grass root level. In this program, the students are trained to identify individuals with ASD. The students also get trained in diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of ASDs across the lifespan.
